                                            This is a 5.5 hour 9 month non-benefited position

Training and Experience (position requirements at entry):

High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.)-Highy Qualified - And

        ONE of the following:

  1. Completed at least two (2) years (60 semester hours) of study at an institution of higher education (attach transcript; 100 level coursework and above) or
  2. Obtained an associate’s or higher degree. Must be highly qualified or
  3. Obtained a passing score on an ADE-approved assessment (attach score report)
    1. ParaPro
    2. ACT Workkeys (requires Business Writing, Applied Math & Reading Comprehension test results)
    3. Master Teacher’s Para Educator Learning Network

      CLASS SUMMARY:

      Responsible for providing instructional assistance in a Structured English Immersion (SEI) classroom setting.

      Assists teacher by helping with classroom instruction and working with children during instructional activities. Assists with small group instruction and Individual Learning Language Plans (ILLPs).

      POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES MIGHT INCLUDE:

      Positions assigned to Structured English Immersion (SEI) classrooms may be responsible for:

      • Administering and grading a variety of tests;
      • Assisting students with limited or no English skills.

      Knowledge (position requirements at entry):

      Knowledge of:

      • Basic reading, writing and mathematical skills.

       

       

      Skills (position requirements at entry):

      Skill in:

      • Monitoring and assisting children with activities;
      • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

        Physical Requirements

        Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing.

        Incumbents may be subjected to blood and other body fluids.

        Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
