                                                                         PRINCIPAL 

(A pool of finalists will be established for positions available during the 2018-19 school year.)

JOB GOAL: To provide instructional leadership and ensure the educational development of students.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Arizona Principal Certificate at time of application

  • Minimum of five (5) years successful classroom teaching experience in a

    multicultural setting preferred

  • Evidence of being a life-long learner

  • Demonstrated ability to provide instructional leadership

  • Demonstrated administrative skills and leadership ability

  • Demonstrated ability to assess student learning

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize school issues

  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in oral and written form

  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred

  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find

    appropriate and acceptable
    REPORTS TO:Superintendent
    SUPERVISES: Site certified and classified staff

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITITES:

  1. Serves as the instructional leader of the school’s academic program, and maintains responsibility and accountability for its success.

  2. Establishes goals based on student achievement data, and implements strategies, which will support multiple assessments of students’ growth.

  3. Visits classrooms regularly and makes recommendations to enhance student learning.

  1. Establishes an expectation that all staff will create an environment which values and supports student success.

  2. Assigns staff to positions that will best meet the learning needs of all students.

  3. Selects, trains, supervises and evaluates all personnel assigned to the school.

  4. Develops and implements an effective plan to increase parental and community involvement at school in order to ensure student success.

  5. Addresses parent/community concerns in an expedient and professional

    manner.

  6. Participates in community, school and district meetings, as appropriate or

    assigned.

  7. Supervises the operation of the buildings, grounds and other school property for the protection of those facilities and the safety of those who use them.

  8. Works with District departments to coordinate multiple school activities.

  9. Establishes a leadership model that promotes participation of teachers, parents, and support staff in school improvement strategies.

  10. Through the use of data pertinent to his/her school’s improvement plan, provides (as requested) an effectiveness assessment of improvement efforts to the Superintendent or his designee.

  11. Informs all staff and parents continuously on the goals and objectives of District Strategic Plan.

  12. Assumes responsibility and accountability for sound fiscal management and submits a yearly budget to the Superintendent or his designee.

  13. Assumes responsibility for school compliance with Governing Board policies and state and federal laws.

  14. Keeps the Superintendent and other appropriate administrative staff informed of school issues.

  1. Models for students, staff and colleagues the success that comes from

    being a life-long learner through the process of professional growth.

  2. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

  3. Works with School Improvement Team to develop, implement, monitor,

    and evaluate a school improvement plan.

  4. Establishes a leadership model that promotes participation of teachers,

    parents, and support staff in school improvement strategies.

   22. Through the use of data pertinent to his/her school’s improvement plan, provides (as requested) an effectiveness                   assessment of improvement efforts to the Superintendent or his designee.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Employment year is twelve months. Salary and fringe benefits as approved by the Governing Board.
