CLASS SUMMARY:

Under general supervision of the Business Services Director Incumbent will be responsible for the supervision of the purchasing department, procurement of materials, equipment, supplies for the District, and perform other duties as necessary.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

The Business Services Assistant Director is distinguished from other classifications by its responsibility for the purchasing department, procuring materials, equipment and supplies for the District, and assisting the Business Services Director in managing the Business Services Department.

Orders materials, supplies, and equipment for the District.

2.

Contacts vendors to determine order status, acquire information on current products and pricing, and to select appropriate materials, supplies, and/or equipment.

Supervising purchasing department, Assists employees, administrators, and vendors with questions and/or concerns.

4.

Reviews requisitions to verify purchase requirements are compatible with District standards and ensure cost-effective vendors are utilized.

Maintains current information, catalogs, correspondence, and other pertinent data relating to products and purchases.

Training and Experience (position requirements at entry):

Bachelor Degree in related field, and two years of related buyer experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

 

Licensing Requirements (position requirements at entry):

Certified Public Procurement Officer or Certified Public Procurement Buyer Certification preferred

Physical Requirements:

Positions in this class typically require: fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
