                                      RESPONSE TO INTERVENTION RTI-B (BEHAVIOR SPECIALIST)

JOB GOAL: The Response to Intervention Behavioral Specialist organizes and implements the intervention program in an assigned building. They are responsible for identification of students, implementation of RTI services, participating in parent conferences, providing RTI related staff development, and tracking student progress.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Arizona Teaching Certification, current Arizona Guidance Counselor Certification (K-12), or Bacherlor's Degree in a related field
  • Experience preferred
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and works effectively in a professional learning community
  • Views self as a learner and seeks professional challenges and demonstrates initiative
  • Demonstrates ability in working with diverse populations (ELL, Special Education and Gifted)
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the unique challenges facing Title I students and their families

  • Evidence of strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively under time constraints

REPORTS TO: Site Administrator

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Works cooperatively with building Principal, Instructional Coach, and or Reading Specialist, and classroom teachers
  2. Attends all trainings and intervention in-services provided.
  3. Participates in MTSS meetings.
  4. Assists school personnel with the identification of students for intervention programs
  5. Works cooperatively with classroom teachers to supply intervention to individual and small groups of children using intervention programs for behavior.
  6. Communicates with school personnel and parents of children receiving intervention services
  7. Assists, where applicable, in the administration of screening, diagnostic, progress monitoring, and summative assessments.
  8. Maintains records on each child as a basis for social-emotional support.
  9. Keeps complete records on each child receiving intervention to be shared at MTSS meetings.
  10. Monitors the progress of children who have completed intervention programs
  11. Completes data forms as specified.
  12. Assists Instructional Coach and Principal in planning and implementing professional development related to RTI.
  13. Maintains regular attendance.
  14. Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills.
  15. Effectively implements state standards.
  16. Demonstrates knowledge of students and individualizes appropriately.
  17. Selects appropriate instructional goals.
  18. Utilizes all available resources to enhance instruction.

  52. Utilize students testing and related data to identify student strengths and weaknesses.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Teacher Salary Schedule and fringe benefits as approved by the Governing Board.
