Gifted Resource Teacher
JOB GOAL: To assist Special Services Director and Assistant Director and the school sites in providing academic services to all gifted learners.
Certified elementary or secondary teacher
Full or Provisional endorsed Gifted Education teacher or willing to work towards endorsement
completion in a timely manner
Endorsed bilingual, ESL and/or SEI teacher preferred
At least three (3) years of teaching experience with excellent evaluations as evidenced
by administrator’s evaluation and student learning outcomes
Views self as a learner and seeks professional challenges
Demonstrates proficiency in teaching gifted learners as evidenced by principal’s
evaluations and student achievement
Demonstrates knowledge of state and federal program guidelines for servicing gifted
Demonstrates skills necessary to assist classroom teachers with the implementation
and integration of best practice teaching models and instructional methodologies into
all gifted education classrooms
Demonstrates proficiency in principles, strategies and methods of working with gifted
Demonstrates knowledge of state program guidelines for gifted education students.
Demonstrates knowledge of state and national Gifted Education Standards
Demonstrates leadership qualities and works comfortably with adults
Holds high expectations for her/himself and colleagues, as well as students
Stays focused, open and committed to a set of beliefs with a willingness to accept the
challenges of sharing a strong and committed belief in gifted education for diverse
Commitment to on-going professional development in gifted education as evidenced
by working with colleagues, attending and presenting at conferences, workshops and
Demonstrates proficiency in communicating in a meaningful way with all stakeholders
regarding Gifted Education classroom instructional strategies
Evidence of independent decision-making skills
Evidence of collaborative skills

REPORTS TO: Director and/or Assistant Director of Special Services
Responsibilities are determined in part by the goals and objectives outlined by the Special Services Strategic Plan. They shall include, but not be limited to:
Provides classroom support in effectively teaching gifted learners.
Provides differentiated instruction through enrichment services for gifted students at the
Coordinates record keeping andreporting as required.
Demonstrates a high level of professionalism.
Provides classroom support consistent with the goal so the Gifted Education Program in
the Cartwright School District. This may include coaching, co-planning with teachers, and providing resources.
Participates in staff development activities such as content workshops, summer institutes
and monthly meetings.
Assists in providing training for all certified and classified instructional staff on instructional
practices for gifted learners.
Continues own professional development through at least the following activities :
involvement in professional organizations; attendance and presentation at professional conferences; facilitation of colleague visits and school visitations; preparation of publications, and continuous professional reading. Stays informed on all matters of importance related to student achievement and program evaluation.
Keeps current of best practices and research through professional articles, etc., for program enhancement.
Applies knowledge of teaching adults as learners to enhance program development
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Demonstrates the ability to network with other districts and organizations in order to support gifted students.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Employment year is nine (9) months
Opportunities for additional work may be available, prior to, during intersessions,
or following the school year.
