                                                          Textbook Management Coordinator

                                                       Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA)

                                                       (Full Time 12 month Teacher Position)


  • To support schools by ensuring they have textbooks and materials needed for instruction (all Tiers)
  • To support teachers in the proper use of supplemental materials and online resources
  • To assist the district in being fiscally responsible by organizing and maintaining an accurate inventory of textbooks, assets and materials
  • To support school administrators and textbook managers by providing professional development and training in the Follett System of Textbook Management
  • Provides professional development to school librarians on a monthly basis


  • Arizona certified elementary or secondary teacher
  • Highly Qualified elementary or secondary teacher
  • Librarian experience preferred
  • Experience as a teacher leader preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience with excellent evaluations
  • Possesses collaborative leadership skills and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates knowledge of district adopted curriculum and instructional materials
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and works effectively in a professional learning community
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple tasks concurrently
  • Views self as a learner and seeks professional challenges and demonstrates initiative
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate in oral and written form
  • Demonstrates ability to create multiple forms to track textbooks and materials
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
  • Able to handle levels of high stress and demonstrate exceptional customer service skills
  • Willing to learn different software platforms (Follett, Citrix, Alexandria)
  • Demonstrates excellent writing skills
  • Able to provide professional development to adults
  • Strong background in English Language Arts


REPORTS TO:  Director of Teaching and Learning


Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

1.   Provides exceptional customer service to schools and departments
2.   Communicates with vendors and ensures quality educational materials are provided and available in classrooms
3.   Collaborates with Educational Services and Teachers in the implementation of instructional materials in classrooms
4.   Provide on-site support to school leadership teams/building principal 
5.   Maintains all records of activity, including textbook distribution to and transfer from all schools within the district
6.   Ensures that all textbooks and assets are numbered (bar code system) and inventoried in the Follet Textbook Tracker              System and Asset Manager System
7.   Accounts for all textbooks charged to the district and all textbooks requisitioned for the district.
8.   Ensures that an annual inventory is completed
9.   Obtains quotes and facilitates requisition of adopted instructional materials from approved vendors
10. Accounts for all shipments of textbooks and assets in and out of the district, and ensures that all orders of requested              textbooks and materials are filled in a timely manner to schools
11. Creates and maintains a district list of materials for each grade level and classroom
12. Assists with the Science Refurbishment Center; ordering materials, creating science kit rotation cycle, ordering live                  animals for schools, arranging transportation of science kits and pacing of science units for grades K-8
13. Assists in the destruction of records using established records retention guidelines
14. Assists in monitoring budgetary expenditures and account balances
15. Collaborates with Educational Services and Materials Center Staff
16. Collaborates and supports Site Administrators/ Site Textbook Managers in maintaining inventory of their textbooks and            assets
17. Maintains regular communication with Site Administrators and Business Services regarding student enrollment, new                sections and collapsed classrooms
18. Provides professional development to Site Textbook Managers in the Follett System of inventory
19. Maintains a clean and orderly working environment and storage of textbooks and materials
20. Comply with District, state, and federal reporting process and guidelines in the destruction of textbooks
21. Collaborates with Educational Services in designing and implementing textbook adoptions and ensuring the delivery of            resources to sites in a timely manner.
22. Creates and maintains a district catalog and website with all district adopted core and supplemental materials
23. Creates and maintains district website materials for pacing guides
24. Oversees and maintains district adopted core material online and supplemental resources/accounts
25. Minor physical activity is required
26. Performs other duties as assigned

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Adopted Teacher Calendar and Salary Schedule
