CLASS SUMMARY:

Incumbents are responsible for maintaining the security of the District complexes.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

The Security Services Assistant is a stand alone classification.  The Security Services Assistant is distinguished from other classifications by its security responsibilities.

1.

Provides a security presence at the District office complex by walking around the facility and monitoring activities; reports the presence of unauthorized personnel to the Police and/or Fire Department.

Responds to alarms at District campuses.

Secures and sets alarms on District gates and doors after regular school hours and following events on evenings and weekends.

Knowledge of:

  • Safety and security principles, practices, equipment, and procedures.

Skills (position requirements at entry):

Skill in:

  • Using computers and related software applications;
  • Setting security systems;
  • Recognizing potential security risks;
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Training and Experience (position requirements at entry):

Ability to read and write in order to communicate and receive instruction, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Licensing Requirements (position requirements at entry):

  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License.

Physical Requirements: 

Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

Incumbents may be subjected to travel.

Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects.
