Facility Maintenance Technician
 
JOB GOAL
Incumbents are responsible for performing a wide variety of routine facility and grounds maintenance activities, which may include minor painting, plumbing repairs, and sprinkler maintenance. Incumbents serve as lead to Custodians.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to read and write in order to communicate and receive instruction, High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D), and two years of related facility maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serves as lead to Custodians, including orientation, basic training, and assigning and monitoring work.
  • Participates in vacuuming, mopping, sweeping and/ or scrubbing floors using floor maintenance equipment.
  • Participates in cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting restrooms; monitors and replenishes supplies.
  • Ensures facilities are properly cleaned and buildings are secured.
  • Handles, stores and uses chemicals; ensures proper dilution of chemicals.
  • Participates in dusting, cleaning, and polishing furniture, doors, windows, partitions, woodwork, and other related surfaces.
  • Secures buildings and classrooms, including use of security systems.
  • Performs routine grounds maintenance activities, which may include: picking up and disposing of trash maintaining sprinklers, and performing other related activities.
  • Monitors inventory; notifies appropriate individual of low or depleted supplies, equipment and materials.
  • Assists in making minor plumbing and electrical repairs.
  • Performs other duties of similar nature of level.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
  • Inventory principles; basic sanitation principles and equipment; commercial cleaning equipment; cleaning chemicals and their usage; basic cleaning techniques; basic grounds maintenance practices safety and security procedures; basic mathematics
  • Knowledge of applicable Cartwright School District and departmental policies and procedures.
Assigning and monitoring work; prioritizing tasks; maintaining inventory levels; sanitizing and cleaning; maintaining a safe and healthy working environment; using custodial equipment; cleaning offices, restrooms, hallways, and other facilities, proper handling of chemicals; using custodian equipment such as vacuums, and buffers; setting up classrooms, gyms, and other areas for special events;
 
 
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
 
  • Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • May be subjected to odors, chemicals, blood and other body fluids, extreme temperatures, work space restrictions, intense noises, and travel.
 
  • Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts and chemicals

REPORTS TO: Site Administrator

CALENDAR: 12 month part-time
